Would an external (USB connected) DAC require the AppleALC kext? Or an SSDT, settings in the config.plist?

That one has been working without any problems, and swapping the Brio with 920 eradicates the USB issues. This could be an issue with power draw, but its just that this problem does not arise in Manjaro, or with my MacBook Pro (though as the MBP only has two USB ports, it could be that it can provide ample power). So in that sense, it could be an OS issue. There are reports of such problems over the web, and one simple solution is getting a powered hub. Other solutions were more technical of creating a SSDT for USB ports, which after going through a tutorial by RehabMan is a bit too technical for me (plus that is for X299 motherboard, which I am not sure would be the same procedure for Trx40?)..

Is there any one running a Logitech's BRIO 4k webcam? @Ploddles thanks so much for the updated EFI. It didn't solve the problem, but I shall be able to upgrade to Big Sur when it comes out so that is good 🙂

Hello everyone, I was not sure if I should post it here or elsewhere, so @fabiosun if this is violating the terms of the fora, feel free to delete it. I recently moved to Logitech Brio 4k webcam from my previous Logitech C920. On my machine (specs in signature), if I have the webcam plugged in, then I start getting these messages "USB Accessory Needs Power". Keyboard, trackpad, mouse seem to work by and large, but there are times if I move the webcam to another USB port at the back panel, one of these stop working. Now I have Manjaro KDE (Linux) installed on another drive, and when I boot into that, these problems do not occur. So is any one else facing these issues? I Googled it and the solutions (removing USBInjectAll.kext, moving between profiles Mac Pro to iMac Pro) did not help. Does any one have a suggestion for this? Should I just get an externally powered USB hub and connect things to it (is this going to work, or is this some issue with my hackintoshing process)? @Ploddles have you faced any such issues? P.s. This problem doesn’t arise on my MacBook either (but that just has two USB ports)

It’s such a shame Nvidia and Apple don’t get along. The Ampere series from Nvidia is almost tempting enough to shift to Linux

@PloddlesI can't thank you enough for the EFIs that I keep leeching shamelessly on. May I ask if sleep/wake is working for you?

Is the system as stable as before after disabling PAT patch? Are there some stability (or other) benefits to upgrading the BIOS?

Is there anyone using an external audio DAC (preferably connected via USB) on this forum?

I read online that Lilu has to be the first kext followed by VirtuaSMC. Afterwards it’s fine. So is there a correct order to enter these two kexts? I tried using ProperTree, but the config.plist generates by it doesn’t allow me to boot at all. When I enable Above 4g encoding, another option appears in the BIOS below it, “encoding limit” which is set to 39 by default. As when I enabled it, I could not boot, so I thought may be there is another value for this limit?

Should the encoding limit be left to 39? Or some other value? also, I want to be able to use AMD Power gadget but even after adding the AMDRyzenCPUManagement.kext and SMCAMDProcessor.kext in the Kexts folder in EFI, and adding them in the config.plist, it still says “AMDRyzenCPUManagement.kext not found”. Also, when I disabled “wake on lan” in the bios, the system started rebooting randomly, so @Ploddles can you please provide me with your working EFI? also, @Ploddles, your BIOS settings file is probably encoded in binary, so I do not know how to read that..

So the rear jack in Catalina is working after removing the AppleALC and disabling ALCID. Does that mean you were using the AppleHDA vanilla kext that comes with the macOS or some other one?

I actually made none of those changes, simply copied the EFI folder into my EFI partition. Though reading from your post. Thanks for pointing it out. For now it seems I have a fully operational hack with shutdown not working. Hopefully that would be resolved soon too 🙂

It hangs for me at both restart and shutdown. I simply pasted your EFI to my EFI partition. Did I miss something, like did I need to edit some settings? I am on Catalina..

@iGPU thank you so much for your work. I have a question (I am a total noob here, so might be silly). The EFI you posted deactivated the restart and shut down functionality. Do we need to include a MIMO to get that (I am not even sure what a MIMO is 😄 )

@Ploddles update: BIOS reflash did the trick. Probably could have done it without reflash, and just a restore defaults followed by the recommended settings. Got my audio jack working again. Thanks to you and @iGPU and @fabiosun for the support and patience. 🙂

the EFI @Ploddles posted on page 5 (I think), has restart working for me perfectly fine. Actually after disabling sleep, everything but the shutdown works. Audio though, the back panel is not working, but it was working previously for me. May be you can try using his EFI from that page?

It is odd somehow. I changed alcid to 11 from 1 as you suggested, and immediately the audio started working. Then I switched to the EFI posted by @iGPU. That caused the USB port (yes, you are right about some ports. The BIOS USB port on the back panel isn't working either. Also, restart wasn't working either - the system would hang when I tried restarting) to be disabled. So when I switched back to your original EFI, much of the functionality returned but audio didn't. I tried changing to 16, and 1 from 11, but it still isn't working. While the front panel is fine, the sound level is disabled. I reset the BIOS too but it still is the same. May be I would try reflashing the BIOS?

@iGPU would you be kind enough to take a look at my EFI and IO Registry. I can not get the audio port at the back I/O panel to work (though the front panel one works just fine, albeit without audio level controls). The new EFI you very kindly updated boots fine for me, but when in the OS, my wired keyboard disappears (contrasting with @Ploddles mouse and trackpad 😄), so for now I have gone back to the original @PloddlesEFI.
