I just discovered if I update my OC by validating with  ProperTree and trying to commit by config.plist by doing an OC snapshot it won't boot. I want to compare my config.plist before the snapshot and after. Can someone guide me? I would like to update OC to  .78

I tried to use OC_tool to see what is going on I got the error below

Hi @valmeida

your EFI had some problems

this attached should be corrected you had also an error on Aquantia definition

I do not know if it solves your problem

I suggest to learn this simple app to update OC:

Thanks this is a great tool. I would love to look at your config.plist to do a comparison and see what's different maybe I can figure out why my AQatina card won't work on Monterey.

I'm just getting back onto the forum after a hiatus (many reasons...).

Due to a "gut feeling" I stopped using Monterey betas a few months ago and settled on the official releases. The one I've been running is 12.2.1. I've been heavily using the TRX40 for many tasks and for the most part, there have been no issues.

However, on reading recent posts on this thread, there seem to be many issues with the Aquantia and I211 ports, especially with the latest Monterey beta releases. As a means of skirting the problem, I decided to try an AIC. Of the many I've tried (and those failed), this one (here) works well and it's not expensive (< 30 USD). It should allow speeds up to 2.5 Gb (my network is only 1 Gb). Until the latest Aquantia-Marvell 10Gb AQN113 AICs are available (the AQN113 is used on the latest M2 Macs and should work OOTB), I think this AIC may be a good interim substitute.

This AIC does require a special kext file: Mieze's kext (LucyRTL8125Ethernet). This can be downloaded via the Kext Updater app or on the InsanelyMac site (here; which also has a discussion about the RTL8125), but to save time I've added the version I downloaded last night as an attachment.

Do note that I've only tested on 12.2.1, so I don't know if there will be an issue on the more recent betas, but since it's dependent on a current kext file, i rather think it will still be functional. In the next couple of days, I take a spare drive and update it to the latest beta to further test.

Hackintool and Network Utility:

Realtek-RTL8125A.thumb.png.d1f13de601fc25fb10e1cf136688cff8.png

And with HackCheck:

In case anyone is interested, I'll attach the SSDT used to re-name the D0C8 device to ETH2. But this SSDT will probably need adjustment of the device based on your mobo, which should be a trivial task using IORE.

Damn. Starting to wonder if the changes introduced are tied to some deeper system or kernel updates... Perhaps a new major obstacle to overcome for the community at large... Has anyone tested on Apple hardware to compare? Don't have a 2019 Mac Pro handy anymore, just MacBook Pro's.

in this version of OSX it would appear that Apple has leveled metal performance towards its new top-of-the-range ARM platform

I can also feel good and the benchmarks in my opinion are not of much use, but I can't fully understand the obvious problems that even professional applications with Monterey 12.3 have

Is it possible that Apple has completely wrong an operating system or rather such an important update of a "main release"?

I can't understand how it is possible to use this system with the lag and the impressive lack of performance with software like Davinci Resolve for example

Am I missing something?

I'm hoping this is rectified as the updates are rolled out as 12.3.1 and upwards, because if it's an issue on genuine Apple machines, that's a catastrophe for people like myself using GPU render software for 3D and so forth.

I just upgraded from Monterey 12.2.1 to Monterey 12.3.0 on my 2013 Mac Pro and the Metal performance of one of the two D700 cards is identical except for a few values.

I will test later on my Hack with my Radeon Pro WX 9100 cards to determine if this is a problem that only affects 6000 series cards.1973487991_Capturedecran2022-03-15a12_52_42.thumb.png.b6ee4342452b35aa9761699b322888de.png

Thank you @antunedduto point me in a right direction and some users of others forum (IM and TM 🙂 )

attached a plist which solves performance problem with 6xxx GPU series in Monterey 12.3

Change your GPU address and string info if you like a correct name for your GPU

No. It is specific for each model:

Radeon 6900 -> ATY,Carswell

Radeon 6800 -> ATY,Belknap

Radeon 6600 -> ATY,Henbury

Radeon 5700 -> ATY,Adder

Radeon 5500 -> ATY,Python

For example, the 6900 example by fabiosun is changed from ATY,Carswell to ATY,Henbury for the 6600 model.

Also, people are again playing with "PP_PhmSoftPowerPlayTable" (aka sPPT) to restore GPU metrics, also injecting via DeviceProperties. (I wrote about this early on in this thread for the Radeon VII to boost speed. The value is specific for each model.) One such thread is here.

The value I use for my 6900XT (Powercolor Red Devil) sPPT:

Brief ROM-sPPT Extraction Tutorial

The methodology used in creating the sPPT data from a ROM file are described in steps A-D below. The steps are not complicated but do seem to require working in Windows for at least one step.  I've extracted sPPTs for a typical 6600 and 6800 XT GPUs presented at the bottom of this tutorial. These are native extractions and not enhanced versions, so should work with similar boards.

A. Download the ROM file.

From TechPowerUp, the file for the 6800XT was downloaded as shown in Spoiler below:

Spoiler

Select the 6800XT from the All pop up:

Results of the 6800XT search:

Then download for the Powercolor 6800XT:

B. Locate the sPPT section from the ROM file.

I used ATOMBiosReader on Windows to process the downloaded ROM file. When you run ATOMBiosReader, you load the ROM file and immediately there will be a *.txt file created adjacent to where ever the ROM was loaded where "*" is the name of that ROM file. You can now exit ATOMBiosReader. You can continue working in Windows or transfer the *.txt file back to your Mac for the next steps.

In Spoiler below is an example for the 6800XT from the txt file created by ATOMBiosReader. The whole purpose of using ATOMBiosReader is to find the start and length of the sPPT section.

Spoiler

Shown is a portion of the ATOMBiosReader analysis.

We're only interested in the section that says "(PowerPlayInfo)" as shown in red box, and in particular,

the start and length of the sPPT section. You can copy and paste these 2 pieces of information into the

hex editor of your choice as described in the next section, C.

C. Extract the sPPT section from the ROM file.

You next load the ROM file again, but now into a hex editor. This step can be done back on the Mac (such as with 0xED or Synalyze It! Pro) or in Windows using HxD. Using Synalyze, the Spoiler below shows the next step for the 6800XT:

Spoiler

After opening the ROM file in Synalyze (or your hex editor of choice), use the menu item, "Edit > Go to position..." as shown below,

entering the "1b40" hex value:

1085620181_ScreenShot2022-03-20at11_38_25AM.thumb.png.307f143db8e2bda693a62f70db0464f7.png

Now that the starting value is entered, next enter the length value (again, you can copy and paste from the ATOMBiosReader analysis file).

I had trouble with the Synalyze editor and could not paste the start location directly but had to use the "Go to position" function for that value.

However, the length value could be pasted as below, followed by pressing the Enter key.

This will now select the sPPT section:

With the sPPT data now automatically selected, you only have to Cmd copy and paste the data into a text file. This sPPT data

in text format can then be later copy and pasted into your DevProp section of your config file.

D. Sample results of the above extractions.

These were derived after pasting the sPPT values into the OC config file and re-copying them prior to pasting below.

No. It is specific for each model:

Radeon 6900 -> ATY,Carswell

Radeon 6800 -> ATY,Belknap

Radeon 6600 -> ATY,Henbury

Radeon 5700 -> ATY,Adder

Radeon 5500 -> ATY,Python

For example, the 6900 example by fabiosun is changed from ATY,Carswell to ATY,Henbury for the 6600 model.

Also, people are again playing with "PP_PhmSoftPowerPlayTable" to restore GPU metrics, also injecting via DeviceProperties. (I wrote about this early on in this thread for the Radeon VII to boost speed. The value is specific for each model.) One such thread is here.

The value I use for the 6900 is:

It is injected as "Data" type; shown below for the 6900:

Here is a tool I came across for extracting the data, besides poking around at TechPowerUp.

Thanks for this! My recent compact build with 6600XT seems to be working without the additional plist entry, but the workstation with 6800XT had issues when I tried the betas.

Another issue I'm running into is that 12.3 doesn't support Bluetooth via Intel AX200 anymore, it seems. Which was working fine in 12.2.1... I have various WiFi modules lying around, so might hold off on updating the workstation and just add in a Broadcom module into the compact build... But it's not as fast as WiFi6 or 6e....

Attached a shot of the compact build.

Teenage Engineering Computer-1 Chassis
Gigabyte B550 Aorus Pro AX
AMD Ryzen 9 5950x

64 GB Corsair Vengeance 3200mhz

2TB Sabrent 4.0 Plus

1TB Sabrent 4.0

Faster than the 24-core Xeon Mac Pro... Amazing.
