    @Cosmin Baticaour motherboard are far far away to be defined similar...but as I said before you can find my (and other users EFI) on this thread (first message of this thread)

    if you choose mine, ,it is a debug version useful for you to see your MMIO in opencoredebug txt file you can find after a first boot in your EFI partition

    I already tried with all the EFI's from there (first message from thread), and none of them is working on me.

    by the way, @Cosmin Batica

    if you are trying to install 11.3.x you could have additional problems (not only for your improper EFI I mean 🙂 )

    it is a problem with unsupported 6900 xt

    Many users have to install with other GPU, then update to 11.4 and then reinsert 6900 xt (only supported from 11.4 beta and onward)

    Thanks. I use only 11.4, and yesterday I try with the last 11.5 beta.

    Without success....

    I am saying if in your rig you use only big sur as OSX those ones are the only patches you can use

    then I am also saying that in your patches list you are using a patch (fix pat ) not useful for us and I can say also is not good for performance of your GPU)

    I would suggest to download one of the EFI you can find in OP and try to start to adjust one of them for your system

    if you see in patches kernel section you will find min and max kernel option, many patches are there for High Sierra or Mojave or Catalina and you can avoid to have them in your config (to have it more clear) if you use Big Sur

    then I have said that a new patch it is mandatory to use from previous Big Sur release like .11.2 to newest one..

    in my patches plist you can find all you need (for kernel patches and if you use 11.3 or greater (now I am using 11.4 and 11.5 beta 1 with those patches list)

    ps (you can also delete aquantia patches if your motherboard does not use that ethernet card)

    @fabiosun: could you send me your EFI? I want to try with it, I see we have quite simmilar systems.

    hi, I was almost offended that you didn't tag me 🙂

    i saw your config.plist you don't use MMIO in your whitelist and you are using kernel patches that are not useful for the TRX40 system one of all the fix pat

    then you definitely need to update a patch that is different from 10.11.3 onwards I am attaching kernel patches I use to boot from Big Sur 10.11.3 to 10.11.5 beta 1

    if you want to take a look for now if you want to copy only the kernel patches from there then you have to use as I suggested before an Opencore debug version to calculate all the new mmio of your motherboard (these stuffs could be different from mine or other users also with a pretty same config)

    patches.plist.zip 2.13 kB · 3 downloads

    Edit:

    uncheck also restricevents.kext (for now) and whatevergreen kext

    WEG is not needed for your 6900 xt and some time it causes black screen with imacpro1.1 and macPro7.1 Smbios)

    Also your boot arg could be different

    leave only -v for now (alcid=1 not useful at all fo us)

    So, are you saying that I must delete all 39 entries from Kernel patches and replace with there from your file? Here I see only 15...

    Post your config.plist

    Config.zip

    @valmeida and @fabiosun: I see you both have quite the same hardware config like me, maybe you can look in my config.efi or send me yours entire EFI folder if you want.

    Thank you.

    BTW, how you manage to enter to BIOS? Because on Oddyssey G9 it seems almost impossible with 240Hz refresh rate...

  6. Guys, help!

    As you may see in my signature, I made some important changes in hardware configuration.

    When I try to install Big Sur 11.4 with OC 0.6.9, the system reboot itself during graphical install stage, and nothing new in OC boot menu after that reboot.

    While this change did not significantly raise the FPS, it increased CPU results by over 20%!!! 😁

    Very interesting.... same "boost" here.

    The question is: is this result REAL?

    I test in Geekbench also and I could observe near the same "boost" in speed: both CPU and video card.

    It seems very strange. I need a real world test to determine if they are real results or not.

    It was definitely important.  I went through and removed a lot of that stuff and it fixed some things. my audio is still distorted if i remove whatevergreen kext so i kept that even without its boot args.  i might mess with that some more to make sure i have the right combination

    i'm currently using     -v  alcid=11 keepsyms=1   and audio is working.

    iMacPro1,1 is working great for me

    Hay, my audio was distorted also, I found a workaround, just use USB 2.0 instead 3.x for external USB audio card.

    no more of 70 could be a dream.. (under heavy load for a big time and with PBO enable)

    may I ask which AIO you have ordered?

    Of course, is Cooler Master Watercooling Kit MasterLiquid ML360 RGB TR4 Edition.

    Speaking of cooling - I was offline for a couple of days as I decided to upgrade mine. Never had overheating issues with the TR4-SP3 dual fan, but thought that 64 cores deserved better. Got the Enermax TR4 II off ebay as I didn't see a point buying new since they are problematic, and refurbished it as best as I could. Drained and refilled with distilled water + vinegar a couple of times to clean all the floating junk inside, gave the cold plate a nice cleaning and polished the surface with some cape cod until it looked better than new, and refilled with EKWB premix. Bleeding the air on this was a bit painful as was figuring how to mount with my existing 140mm fans. 1st AIO ever and back pain inducing experience, but my idle temps fell by 7 degrees. Need to do more testing later.

    So my mouse micro-stutter experience came back and it's not wireless related as now disabling it doesn't do anything. Seems it is 5700XT and DP 1.2 related as reported by many others. No fix so far as I need DP 1.2 for 4K and my display doesn't support DP1.4. I noticed it only after I upgraded to OC 0.6.1 so not sure why I never had it initially. The microstutter affects sound too. Some people recommend disabling DP sound to fix it, but I like to use my monitor audio so not an option I like.

    Regarding audio issue, I found that the only way to ge t working my external audio card was to disable onboard audio and then reinstall Catalina.

  10. Problems with sleep and shutdown are now (auto)solved, don't ask me how, just they work now.

    The issue with the big temperature I temporary solved with a proper CPU cooler with airflow. I ordered one of the best AIO liquid cooler, but I'll have to wait a couple of days until arrive.

    In the mean time, the result is NOT ok for long term, but temperatures don't rise more than 89 until high load. I know this must be no more than 70, so all my hope is now in the water cooliong system.

    In Windows my machine always runs about 10-15 degree cooler.

    This has been the case with all the Hackintoshes I have even run, they always run hotter.

    For Windows and Repair to appear, try changing Scanpolicy to 0 in your config.plist file.

    Doesn't work with scanpolicy...

    It's strange beceause I haven't the option to boot to second NVME in BIOS until I enable CSM, but in this case Catalina won't work, and so on...

    Really I never have so many problems with a hackintosh like with threadripper....

  12. 2 hours ago, Ploddles said:

    @Cosmin Batica For your shutdown/restart, in BIOS try disabling wake from LAN in your network card section.

    It works!!

    Thanks.

    Now, another issue. At boot, only Catalina and ClearNVRAM appears. I don't have Windows and Repair mode....

    Update: a real BIG problem. In Cinebench, CPU temperature aprox. 92 !!!! Something it's not OK, in Windows it hasn't his issue!

    I have never been able to get sleep to work. As far a shutdown goes, with the correct MMIO whitelist, my shutdown works great. Make sure Energy Saver is set to "Prevent computer from sleeping automatically..."

    I already do this, it's not a problem for me if the computer doesn't sleep - it's not human anyway to need sleep!

    Anyway, it's quite strange that even Apple hasn't well implemented the Sleep function on their own macbooks, for me, every macbook I have has a strange issue: when I open the lid it doesn't open the OS so I have to close the lid and open again to get rid of the Sleep state...

    🙂

    3950x default TDP 105 W

    3950x default TDP 280 W

    should be enough to understand...

    since you almost never answer the questions I ask useful to help you .. I guess it's because of my bad English 🙂

    so it makes me wonder ..

    in your opinion why your system is so bad?

    Actually not, my system is not bad at all, in fact is the best system I ever had at home.

    I figure out why it chrashes - because after some time it enters in sleep state, and I think it doesn't deal with sleep function....

    The temperature is now ok after I change the fan curve graphic in BIOS...

    So it remains only two important aspects: sleep and shutdown doesn't work.

  15. Regarding high temperatures, on Windows installation temperature is OK - about 50°, only on mac is with 10-15° greater.

    I have a top CPU Corsair liquid cooling system with 3 vents and a huge radiator, and another 4 vents in case - it has an excellent air flow.

    Btw, on Ryzen 9 3950 the temperature was OK in hackintosh.

    And concerning restarts (in fact they are crashes, followed by a restart) it is very annoying and completely unproductive.... I work on something and suddenly OS crashes without a visible reason. It's not ok to work in such conditions....

  16. As I said, I already managed to make it work. But:

    Cons:

    - I have a problem with shutdown, it actually do a restart instead;

    - I don't like the CPU temperature.... I have now 60-65 grades, while on Windows never go higher than 60. I actually miss the iCue application from Corsair to manage all fans - all of them are Corsair manageable by software - the iCue app for Mac doesn't have this function;

    - the problem I mentioned with audio was quite strange, the external audio doesn't work, but even the internal audio. The only way to do the audio interface to work was a complete reinstall of Catalina....;

    - sometimes Catalina restart itself, without a reason;

    Pros:

    - every software that I use or try works;

    - the speed of the system is unbelievable;

    - NVME gen. 4 is indeed a much better choice than a gen. 3 one: the differences in speed are important;

    - the system is far away faster than any of other AMDs than threadripper, my previous configuration was based on the top of the Ryzen 9 - 3950x;

    - The global performance is so good, even my MacBook Pro gen. 2020 is slower compared with this Ryzentosh.

    As a general notice, I am already happy with this system, who is so fast and I don't have that dead intervals where I have to wait for open applications, windows, or some resource intensive functions inside some applications. As a consequence, I can say it is the first home system with I can focus on productivity, rather than complain with speed and stability issues.

    What fixed it in the end? Trying a clean EFI from scratch?

    I remake USB install again, and then made all your recommendations and then it works.

    Now I have another problem. I use a Steinberg UR22 Pack audio interface. It worked flawless on previous system and works in Windows without any problem.

    But now, on threadripper, when I open Mainstage or Logic Pro X, audio interface is dissapearing -  I never saw something like this on any OS X platform !
