or even non-Pro. But 2 DIMMs per channels, so reduced speed (and probably best to keep to the RAM QVL).
In the event that either of you had a free week-end to tinker while the WRX90 machine is at rest, you might give a try at hackintoshing it (with hyper-threading disabled for the 7985WX, and a compatible AMD GPU). It should not be that different from a TRX50.
I will be open to that when I begin to build the second WRX90E machine

7960x was cool but i’d got for the 7970x if I did it again.

I do still have my 7960x trx50 AeroD machine but it has been repurposed as a GPU-rendering linux server. I had it running MacOSx86 Sonoma, it was stable, maintained weeks of uptime, and ran FCPX well. I did not use it as much as I planned to as my work took priority over creative interests. I do second the WRX90e, I built a 6x GPU setup around a 7985wx, a great platform. The AITop board is odd, as it accepts the wrx chip but uses quad memory, iirc. From the MacOS, I would stick with the AeroD.

The TRX50 motherboard worked very well and the system was absolutely stable on MacOS, especially compared to my ASUS x670e/7950x. I would argue the cost of R.DIMM DDR5 kept it from as much adaptation as the previous generation which used run of the mill DDR4.

it could be a disk problem but cant say exactly
I applied innie.kext (https://github.com/cdf/Innie) to correct the external nvme as internal and it appears to have resolved the issue. I am still studying the TB you linked me earlier.

Hello, @fabiosunsystem kernel panic'ed 4-5 times from a cold boot before it could reach the GUI. Upon loading the GUI, I was presented with this Log:

they are asmedia usb4 and they only work to charge iphone for now (and forever i think)
On my x670e system, the USB-C TB ports do have USB functionality but not TB.
-
@fabiosun does the x870e proart support USB4 under MacOS?

After I upgraded to Sequoia, a Canon EOS Utility process held my CPU at 5.1Ghz and sustained 80C, that did not seem normal as the fans were full blast. If I select 3500mhz in AMD Power Gadget, it calms down but "Automatic Speed Adjustment" went nuts. I was able to disable the background "EWCService."
-
Well I am typing to you from the machine, I was able to activate Audio with alcid=13, AirDrop/WiFi as well as iServices/iMessage. I also created a USBMap.kext. This isn’t my beloved Trx50 but it is snappy. After a year of Linux CLI, the MacOS GUI is a nice change of pace. I ran the GPU bench....solid score for my 6800XT. I would like to enable SLEEP, set the NVME as internal, and would like to understand the current USB4 functionality/limitations. Sometimes the system will KP during boot and generate this error:

What became of the research in regard to functional USB4/Thunderbolt on this MB? I see them under IOREG.

it is an Opencore debug release EFI if it hangs post a photo and debug opencore txt
I have added ACPI patches done by CorpNewt for your proart
This does boot! I only added the boot-arg agdpmod=pikera to reach the GUI. I will now try to dissect it. After a year away, I feel a bit rusty but it is coming back to me.

Looking for help with an x670e ProArt
-
I am attempting to boot Sonoma 14.4.1 with onboard Wifi/BT/Audio/Ethernet/iGPU disabled in the BIOS currently. After I changed the Securebootmodel to Disable, the boot process is still stuck at 17:765 00:012 AAPL: #[EB|LOG:EXITBS:START] 2025-01-03T00:52:17. I also tried the patches linked here below with identical results. I tried another user’s EFI and it did load and eventually KP, I must be missing something obvious and will look at this again with fresh eyes.

I think x670e proart bios need acpi patching
and all will be fine
Yes, I read through the links you provided above. I attempted to build a fresh configuration of open core debug v103 with the acpi patches applied but booting was unsuccessful. Your support is much appreciated.

@fabiosunI now have the time to revisit this project. While the 9950x was ultimately installed into a linux server, I still have the 7950x. The BIOS version of my x670e ProArt board is version 2604.

In real life about 10/15% faster
great advange are lower watt and lower temps
Well that might be ideal as I typically leave my MacOS system online 24/7.

I returned the 9950x today and decided to keep the 7980x. That’s a big leap from the 24-core 7960x, thoughts? @fabiosun

I still have the 9950x sealed in the box and have yet to install it into a motherboard. Ideally, while I have one of the Pro-Art x670e servers offline, I should be able to upgrade the cpu and attempt to boot MacOS. How well does the Zen 5 perform compared against the Zen 4?

Hello, I now have an AM5 setup in need of booting MacOSx86 as the Trx50 has been put in use as a Linux Nvidia-gpu rendering server:
Ryzen 9950x 16-core
ASUS ProArt x670e
Corsair 192GB 4x48GB (CMK192GX5M4B5200C38)
FENVi T919 (Pulled from Trx50 build)
I never did get around to updating the Trx50 build beyond 14.4.1.
I would like to clone my Trx50 setup but perhaps starting fresh is ideal. Thoughts?

I am still running Sonoma 14.4.1. My current setup is very stable. Are the updates difficult?
-
I guess I lucked out as I did not have any prior experience with Trx40 either.

My Gigabyte Trx50 AeroD is still running strong, months of uptime and never a hiccup. I have not updated past 14.4.1, however.

Yes, a dedicated wrx90e thread would be ideal. My trx50 and wrx90e machines are both currently rented-out 24/7.
