Stegran
Hi Fabiosun, Let me try your last EFI. I posted without noticing it. With the previous omne I have done those steps, and unfortunately the system halted at the same point: "Successfully initialized AHCI controller" & non-verbose mode progress bar still freezes at roughly 50% under the Apple logo. Regarding the NVMe compatibility, I also tested the boot using a SK Hynix Platinum P41 NVMe PCIe 4.0 drive, but the boot sequence halts at the exact same point. Thank you Edited October 6 by Stegran
Stegran
Hi Fabiosun, Thank you for sharing your personal EFI. Even with your working configuration, the system hangs at the same point. I'm afraid my AMD Radeon Pro W6600 may be the culprit. I really appreciate your help. If you have any other ideas, I'm happy to test.
Supervisor fabiosun Posted October 7 Author Supervisor Share Posted October 7 Hi @Stegran as latest and desperate idea you can try to unmount your 6600pro gpu and see if system passes that hang in that case if it will go on you will have a system with not accelerated graphics sorry no more ideas to test
Stegran
Hi Fabiosun, I removed the w6600 pro and tested using the integrated graphics. Unfortunately, the system still hangs at exactly the same point: This makes it appear that the GPU is not the cause of the problem. Thank you very much for all the you have put to helping me troubleshoot this. I truly appreciate your assistance, and I do not want to take up more of your time. I have already received far more help than I expected. Now that I have your EFI, I will continue testing and adjusting the BIOS and related settings carefully on my own. Hopefully, I can eventually get this system working. Best regards, Steven Edited October 8 by Stegran
leesureuno
Hello @fabiosun, I hope all is well and that your X870e Hero super machine is performing as expected. I think I have found a reasonable deal on the same board, before I pull the trigger I wanted to try and get some clarification on a couple of questions. What is currently the best bios version for macOS? Also how is the onboard Ethernet performing now? Many thanks
Supervisor fabiosun Posted 2 hours ago Author Supervisor Share Posted 2 hours ago Hi @leesureunowelcome here All is fine here and my Hero performs at its best also in tahoe 🙂 I use old 1715 bios because with newer one in OSX i loose many disks (some sata e some nvme) I use latest mieze kext for realtek 5gbit and it works wonderfully
leesureuno
Thank you for the quick response, as usual. Once AMD6 processors are released next year it will require a bios update to run on the 600 and 800 series boards. I have a feeling you are going to be interested in an AM6 processor upgrade, I know I'll be considering it. Once they are available I'm a little concerned I'll be stuck on bios 1715 and not able to upgrade if I want to run macOS, any thoughts on that? Supervisor fabiosun Posted 28 minutes ago Author Supervisor Share Posted 28 minutes ago I think OSX and asus top motherboards have some incompatibility I hope someone will find a way but i am not so confident about this One problem is solvable with ACPI patches But Agesa incompatibility with OSX is a big problem I tested any bios of asus till 2503 and i can boot the system well with new acpi patches, but i loose disks (some nvme) and sata In some bios i could recover it about ten minutes (not all the disks), because it seems asus bios had difference in ASPM biso part (ai response) but i didnt find any solutions by now
