MSI TRX40 - CATALINA 10.15.7 - BOOTED

• I discounted my usb audio headphone jack - TX-Hifi Type C audio.
• I loaded the EFI folder and made a back up of mine.
• Rebooted and Selected my drive at boot menu.
• Black screen after initial load, hangs on black screen

Please see attached video

 

Any thoughts?

BIOS is Jan it is not the latest one.

 

I don't see that you added pikera arg in this latest config file. 

 

I will wait to confirm if you see it there.

sorry it is a pretty similar config which I use

If you can try all things as we said

and if it works ok you can stay with that old bios

 if not you should update to latest one which introduces a new agesa..and probably you have to modify then your MMIO values

Results - Shutdown does not work, it just restarts.

The MMIO looks good.

what improvements does AGESA add to the Bios?

no other idea for shutdown problem..

could you detach usb audio card or it is only and USB Headphone?

I am going to detach everything except for the mouse, including headphones.

I will use bluetooth for keyboard.

@eye2eyespy I am pretty sure that EFI works well on three similar system..so problem should be local

I have no BT or WIFI hardware..cant test it by myself

 

also bios Update could be an option if you are not scared to do it 

Shutdown problem is not the best to have 🙂

 

before to discover MMIO way we have all shutdown a reboot problem..your MMIo are a bit different from mine

I can't say for sure they are different cause different bios or different devices in our systems

should I still make an attempt to upgrade to Big Sur?

my EFI has opencore 065 beta and latest driver and kext

if I have not done any error

it could work also well in Big Sur as is

Checking on everything now.

I upgrade to opencore 064 - then let the machine do its thing.
