[TRX40] 3960X / Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme - Installation Issues

Managed to get into the installation with clover but as soon as I click install it restarts.. something weird is going on..

Installing Catalina. I think it might have to do with the graphics card. As soon as I try to move the installation window it restarts

however try when you stay in bootmenu >(clover)

press space bar

and then flag nv_disable=1

I've tried that but still restarts! I also tried graphics enabler no but the same issue.  I have attached a video !

 

I am sure @Ploddles is gonna tell me it's something in the bios settings that I keep missing!

Restarts as soon as I click it!

Yeah! Even just moving the mouse restarts it. Should that also be the issue with the OC freezing ?

I've just got home. I'll post a bios settings profile for you to load shortly.

 

EDIT:-

 

Attached is my bios profile, unzip it and copy to a USB stick. Boot to your bios setup and select Advanced. Select the last tab on the right and then the 'Load Profile' button at the bottom of the page. Select the USB stick and then the profile file (called TRX40Profile). Then select "Save and exit".

 

Immediately after it reboots, go back into the bios and go to the same tab. Save the profile to one of the 10 entries and give it a name.

I tried windows 10 and it works fine!

 

@Ploddles i loaded the bios profile with your OC 6.3 efi and still get the same error : " Attempting system restart .. MACH Reboot"

 

I'm so baffled..

or enable it

maybe your gtx is not Uefi compliance?

Is that when you select the Install macOS Catalina / Big Sur or before that. If after, please check the config.plist and ensure that SecureBootMode is set to Disabled.

I get the boot screen , i select Install Catalina then it goes through a bunch of lines and gets stuck at that error

This is with the latest config as well. Am I doing something wrong creating the usb ? I downloaded catalina from the app store , mounted efi and copied the efi folder in there

That is right for the EFI.

 

The next thing I would try would be to select ClearNvram, but do it 3 or 4 times. Then press the space bar and select the reset nvram option. It should then reboot automatically.

I see with clover you reach recovery install..but you have weird result also there

have you tried simply with 0?

it is not related but I would like you use that number with a single installed disk

I've tried Clearing NVRam and reseting but still the same. I have attached screenshots!

Could the usb be the reason? I'm redownloading catalina now to try on a different usb

Why have you got config.plist in Bootstrap? There should be a file called bootstrap.efi in there.

It's in the main EFI folder , the bootstrap folder was not expanded for some reason and it looks like it was inside of it! 

 

I really appreciate your help guys . Any other suggestions or troubleshooting i can try?
