[TRX40] 3960X / Gigabyte Aorus Xtreme - Installation Issues

Hey guys!

 

I've been waiting for the CPU cooler to arrive for my 3960X so I've been preparing beforehand with the installation. I've used the P List sanity check and I get this error . Have I missed anything?

Sanity Checker is just a rough guide and most of what it flags is irrelevant to TRX40 (and a lot for Intel systems as well!). Trust more what you read on this thread as we have all been there and have booting/working systems.

I'm gonna use the latest EFI you provided ( THANK YOU! ) and wanted to ask if there's something I need to change since I'm temporarily using a GTX760 until the 6800XT comes out

You new card (I hope for you you can find one as soon as possible) should be supported as is in macOS Big Sur

but for now...no one can say 🙂

maybe you will be one of the first one to test it

I think only whatevergreen kext could be useful..and I think you have it in your EFI

Thank you Fabiosun . I've been running an Intel Hackintosh for the past 5 years with the same card and it worked fine in Catalina ( not gonna update to Big Sur yet since it's mostly for music production and it's still unsupported with many software developers for plugins ) . Let's hope for the best!

Not a good start... I used the latest EFI from Ploddles but it gives me this error. Latest bios . Is it something related to bios settings ?

Yeah the latest F4l bios , i've tried a few different bios settings but still cant get it to continue to the installation . Stuck on the same page.

Should I be using any different boot arg since i'm using the GTX 760?

check also if you have CSM option in bios

I've used the latest Ploddles EFI for 6.3 . Are there any other bios settings I should change? I've already loaded optimised defaults after flashing the bios and then changed some settings here and here according to a recommendations

Is it a matter of just replacing it in the EFI? I've tried booting with that but still get the same error .

just replace in the EFI

then in bios try to disable CSM (now it is enabled)

then post tweaker Bios Tab settings 

I think inside you can find CPU parameters

I've replaced the config and disabled the csm but still get the same error. Im 100% sure I'm doing something simple wrong . I tend to do that haha

Could there be something going on with the M.2 i have installed? It was taken from another system with windows ( but it works ) . Maybe wrong partitions or something like that?

No the M.2 is mounted on the motherboard directly and i've tried a few different USB ports.

and if you want try..this is a different approach with the boot loader (clover)

but I think you should double check your bios settings with @Ploddlesor with user with your same motherboard

 

if you use this EFI replace completely yours
