ciao @Renato

check better 😛

On first post of this thread you can find gigabyte designare EFI from @Arrakis, you can start from there (only disable is MMIO because they could be different from yours)

you can find specific thread for designare ex board in international area

GIGABYTE TRX40 DESIGNARE (REV. 1.1) / AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3960 X - General - MacOS86

it is about 1.1 version..but disabling MMIo you could boot easily the same

 🙂

I will have a look, thanks. I found out why the attachments were said to be "Not available" it was because I was not logged in. In fact, I did not eve remember I was ever a member.  I found out I was when, trying to subscribe I was than told my email address had been already used 🙂 Thinking back,  I believe I subscribed a year ago  the first time somebody from this site was able to install macos using proxmox.  I started investigating proxmox at the time  and realized there was a competitor (Unraid)  which had a storage management that suited better my situation... the rest is history 🙂

Anywa, thanks, I will have a look.

Disabling MMIO, do you mean in the bios or in the config.plist?

@Renato

Hello, this is my last EFI to date,
for MMIO, it's in the config.plist (Booter / MMIO list)

I upgraded from Gigabyte Designare Rev 1.0 to Gigabyte Designare Rev 1.1 without changing the MMIO.

So EFi as is should charge without changing the MMIO.
You just have to fill in the PlatformInfo part still in config.plist.

Hi, Thank you.  If you do not mind me asking,   what drove you to upgrade to 1.1? I have been looking for differences between the two and all  I got is this quote from Gigabyte itself:

"They are the same board, just rev 1.1 switch the PWM from analog to digital for better support of the 64 Core CPU"

as I am running a 3970, It did not seem to affect me. did you find other differences?

Hello, I got my  GIGABYTE TRX40 AORUS PRO WIFI  and threadripper 3960X with radeon 5700XT working perfeclty but I can't reboot or shutdown unless I hard press the power button for several seconds..

been reading and can't find anything related, I followed dortanias guide step by step for trx40 and generated SSDT this way

step 1-Dump DSDT
step 2-FakeEC
step 3-USB Reset

took  only:
SSDT-EC.aml
SSDT-USB-Reset.aml

to the ACPI folder .. I don't know how else to solve the issue.

another issue is I have  4x 16GB memory modules and the SMBIOS generated was macpro7 and keeps telling me at login that the max memory supported blah blah , should I change the SMBIIOS fon an iMac 2017?

thanks in advance

@mSedek

For the extinction problem, you have to edit the MMIO.

The addresses are in the debug file generated by OpenCore on the EFI partition.

Please note that each motherboard has different values. (do not copy my values.)

See Screen capture :

For the ram, two solutions.

1) The easiest is to change the SMBIOS, choose iMac Pro 1.1.

2) Consult the Dortonia post Installation guide : https://dortania.github.io/OpenCore-Post-Install/universal/memory.html#mapping-our-memory

Hi and welcome here

Dortania's guide about TRX40 is far away to be accurate

I would like to advice to follow here where all it started (about trx40 and OSX use)

About your problem for memory i suggest to use ImacPro 1.1 SMBios (MacPro 7.1 has no benefit for us)

For shutdown and reboot problem it is a well known problem we solved HERE many months ago

you can try to read here:

TRX40 World - useful links - General - MacOS86

@iGPUdid a well detailed explanation of that i have discovered about MMIO use and their benefit to our trx40 rig!

I am happy to inform that the memory problem got solved by changing the SMBIOS, but unfortunately I am not able to generate the proper oc_debub.txt with the mmio values i need to fix the MAJOR issue that is not being able to restart or shutdown properly.. also attaching the current file i got and the config.plist part of the debug

Edit: i think that the txt file got corrupted, deleted it and uploaded a image of it.

I traded because my first card broke. As I am very good with my PC hardware vendor, I took advantage of the exchange to take Rev1.1. I have not noted any notable differences in its operation.😀

 Hi,

I used your Efi, just added the platform info. All seems to be fine, I format (erase) the drive and I carry out the implementation but, when there are two minutes left in the installation the screen either freezes or the system reboots. I have a vega 64 videocard, I know it needs whatevergreen to work but than, that kext is in the kext subfolder. I tried twice and I have two quite different logs, not sure if they say anything useful :

Hi @Renatoi give 2 advices

one check your MMIO (i think first two are important and you have set them to 0 (skip to 0)

you have to build a proper list based on your bios configuration and bios version

then you should remove on your config all device properties declaration (i think @Arrakishas in it) and see if you can boot easily

Vega 64 does not need of much stuff to work (only WEG but it is not mandatory)

Hi Trekintosh, I will have a look. I used Arrakis' EFI as I have the same motherboard (albeit I have a 3970). Let me have a look (first I need to google and understand what you are saying, I am no opecore expert) give it a shot and get back to you

The reboot on shutdown is usually fixed by disabling Wake on Lan in the BIOS.

On a general issue -

Quite a long list in the new OC 0.6.8 changelog. Just glanced through them so I don't know if there is any big benefit for us. Will try it at a later date.
