@Driftwood starting from a working full installer (downloaded with Vm assistant or in other ways) is possible to convert rename it in iso with vm assistant tool you have only to use it as a cd rom image and put that option in vm config when you set full iso disk basesystem dmg is not a proper iso file so it must used as a normal vm disk with cache=unsafe option.1 point

I would like to start from here , to be honest latest post seems to me a bit ungrateful.. I can do a mistake in this...I would like clarify a bit 1) Your problem with 9 Gb full iso..have you read updated part of the guide when we create (@gengik84) new option for VM_Assistant?...I would like also inform you that also nick's site after that updated his site 😉 2) opencore stuff...If you read always nick's site, maybe you can understand by yourself who discovered that opencore was a better option..overall for initial graphics problem on boot He forgot to give proper credits for it...and if you read in comment I have remembered him this fact ( I could say also others things but I do not want to polemic more! 3) all "researches" for understanding boot args part were done in latest December time..from there I have started to test others combinations from Penryn to host CPU and adding some @algrey patches to avoid also in vm initial hang like trx40 users have in "real" hack environment 4) @PavoGitHub is a great resource for users with a radeon card because he has one and he is trying to resolve annoying reset bug..I have no radeon card (and here we do not ask to send one to solve problems 😛 ). In his GitHub Is also well defined the initial inspiration for his journey in proxmox 5) this guide is free it is not perfect but it does not hide anything..and if you want you can participate on it with your ideas and your point of you in all aspects you think we can improve (with we I mean you and me in a word community). I appreciate in particular way @iGPUand @AllubzVmessages here No polemic only to clarify things. I am not a hackintosh Guru and my job is not related to this passion. I hope you understand in a right way this my "clarification" 😉 have a nice day @Driftwood I quoted you but not for particular problem with you 🙂1 point

Today I have tested my system only with host as cpu and two patches for kernel system is stable as before and this is the end for that part of my config i would like to know from users with a working vm (also am4 chipset) if audio is working well..I mean internal audio. Gpu audio is perfect. I think audio problem is also related to our common problem with some usb controller incongruences i have also tested an usb audio and the weird thing it is detected as audio usb also in those not passed USB ports... let me know 🙏1 point

thank you @iGPU. It is above my Knowledge this..so for now I give up 🙂 For now tb is not mandatory for me..but if you find news or you would like to share your finding I will happy to read it and to post in a future TB section of main guide @Driftwood It seems most AMD GPU are affected from a bug very annoying It is called reset bug and it hangs OSX if you restart it I think people are trying to find a solution for now it seems to be not possible to avoid it I have no direct experience on it1 point

thank you for this file--it is named like for Titan Ridge but inside I see some referral to Asus card Have you some link to guide or similar stuff to follow? thank you1 point

I see here in my outpu some group I can pass easily..so maybe problems are different.1 point

@iGPUif you have some things related to Asus TB ex3 thunderbolt I would like to try 🙂 today I have had a bad news..for audio Received a cheaper USB Audio adapter: https://www.amazon.it/gp/product/B01J3QGU50/ same problem of internal audio so for now no solution here1 point

@AllubzV Sure it is about TSC, I am insisting because it is real that cinebench and geekbench benchmark are "faked" from this missing..but Candle scene test in DaVinci Resolve no..so I am investigating on this and I hope also some of you will do the same 😉 traditional TSC kext are not useful..and in my case never was also in a x299 system Args subject: I Know, and many guide stated this is mandatory as OSK key ie...not true here Patch for seeing TR as it is 🙂 Here I can not understand well why it is working...two kernel patches used to by pass "host" hang are Penryn topology related... Broadwell subject: maybe you know I am involved from December in trying to have working patches with vanilla method..involved means I have helped maintainers of AMD patches to find a solution.. I have tested all solutions proposed by algrey..then he gave up, because no solutions available tested were working. Many chit chat people answer at his name saying nice things as: "Send a trx40 chip to algrey" and so on In the past developer have had all CPU in the world to produce patches for OSX? NO! 🙂 Algrey is a serious man (I think) and he never asked this..he was trying to do a serial output debugging with me and I have bought all things he could think useful for this task(serial cable and poi to serial adapter). No way to have it working for me...and I think also for other users if no results at this moment! 😛 For this I have spent my time to build this guide as a sort of working progress. Now I am happy and I think we have a better method to have a Hack..without historical problems vanilla method has.. Sure it is not simple...but it is here for free..and here we are not asking to send a trx40 chip to solve users problems 😂😂1 point

@AllubzVso many question 😛 boot order: here is well explained (I hope) how to (I will revert also OVMF patched file in an original one..but for you could be a problem..in my case it is working original one) higher Cinebench : CPU: Penryn delete all args (all I mean) in this way benchmark are higher..sytem has weird behaviour..maybe I need to insert +invtsc boot arg I DO NOT advise to do in this way..I am trying for testing also experimental patches.. Correct name in cinebench only with OpenCore for now in args host as cpu then CPU: Penryn in vm config it is mandatory to use two "AMD Vanilla patches" by algrey..Search on the net because I think it is not a good way for us (patches slow our GPU in my testing) It is beautiful to see Cinebench, MacCPUid and other app recognise our cpu without faking anything. For other your problems you can test some deb files patched by @Pavo you can find in his GitHub (read his indication for this). link here This files could help to separate in a better way IOMMU and its shared peripherals..it solves some problems on X570 based rigs.1 point

ah by the way, check this: # /etc/modules: kernel modules to load at boot time. # # This file contains the names of kernel modules that should be loaded # at boot time, one per line. Lines beginning with "#" are ignored. vfio vfio_iommu_type1 vfio_pci vfio_virqfd and also the main thing..IOMMU in your grub.cfg config file1 point

a test for AMD Gpu users. If you know what you are doing and you are booting your OSX from a passed disk try to comment EFI disk in your VM config In my system it boots fine the same except for Nvidia driver not loaded correctly, I think it is for me a Nvram problem.. I am curious to see what happens with OSX supported GPU to comment VM line you can put this # at line's start1 point

hi I see 4 potential problems: 1) args: -device isa-applesmc,osk="ourhardworkbythesewordsguardedpleasedontsteal(c)Apple$ this is not complete 2) net0: vmxnet3=92:C8:08:B1:2D:BE,bridge=vmbr0 net1: e1000=FE:8F:05:47:A8:1E,bridge=vmbr0 net2: rtl8139=46:D4:B9:63:16:44,bridge=vmbr0 net3: virtio=36:6C:02:76:47:2E,bridge=vmbr0 3) sockets: 3 4) you miss installer iso in your VM (HS,Catalina, Mojave) I see only clover iso also a potential error is to leave media cdrom on ide0 line you should follow the guide and put there cache=unsafe for point 3) put 1 and use all your 48 cores in cpu I do not think this is a 3960x problem...I have 64 core and 1 socket from day 0 and yes, if you pass your VGA you have to put none in display part1 point

@Renato hi 😉 if you followed the guide or downloaded a proper clover iso searching in the net..if you examine it you will see it has a very basic config.plist SMBIOS part is blank and you have to fill with proper data according to your system To boot well is not mandatory to have some Apple services configured well it is necessary to have a working chance!1 point

ehmm have you formatted it in disk util? then..why scsi? I never tested scsi..but I think it is not your problem (also never checked backup, some time SSD emulation but it is not relevant @Renatofor your disk miss! see also If you see it here :1 point

you can edit via shell not simple fs0:/ or as your EFI it is named in your system.. then terminal command1 point

You can also try to pass completely your unique usb controller hostpci3: 00:14 in your conf file but i have no others idea1 point

if you can post also cinebencz 15 🙂 if I understand well in Proxmox is better for you than previous patched method?1 point

have you passed this one? if you do not pass it, in Web interface/hardware/usb part what do you see?1 point

@Pavo cpu is fine, you can see comparing in real way with no vm benchmark using traditional patches gpu benchmarks are missing for now have you some problem there? @Renato for inserting pictures you can drag and drop when you are writing your message1 point

Hi welcome here. if you have a Proxmox system booting in OSX you can easily change your EFI folder. You have to mount it and then change your clover structure with an OpenCore one. To build OpenCore bootloader folder I have used OC EFI maker you can find in download section. Following this video could be useful:1 point

thank you for uploading pictures..but you have also to delete all your qemu drive (if you have in VM conf) and see if after a cold boot your boot sequence is fine, in my case it starts always with network entering in bios and select sata passed disk it boots fine1 point
-
to test experimental kernel patches I can't say anything because I do not know your lspci output.. but if it is ok for you.. 🙂 add: by the way it seems fine to me, maybe you miss some cpu features args and I do not see internal motherboard audio1 point

Ciao Renato, do not worry I have understood well and I am asking for others user help to find the best and correct way to do...Your link is useful and I have learned a lot from Proxmox wiki link While I am trying in my system, I am also trying to find a simple and intelligible way to write it 🙂 No so simple, but take it as it comes 🙂 In initial stage of my experience in proxmox I have not tried to pass an entire controller as I did now so it could work also as you say. Not tested Instead I tested well a thing passing and using an SSD with Catalina installed on..and it is working with EFI installed on it (same of HS or Mojave in my case) There is a "bug" I think in OVMF bios Inside it I have all my disk connected in sata controller passed but it is not possible to save a correct boot orders if you delete "qemu filled drive".. I think is a bug but if no other user can confirm it should be also a problem of my little knowledge ! 😉1 point

@Imanol for now better do not say exactly because it is not safe and with it I loose audio synch but... if you want try the key is to put Penryn in CPU: Penryn in vm and delete all (ALL) args line..you can comment it with # when you have time ..if you have configured well GPU passthrough I would like to see Cinebench 15 GPU benchmark (OSX/WIndows)) also luxmark3.1..and any test you can try 🙂 Thank you1 point

I think a minimal of 2/3 post is required..you can also introduce yourself in presentation area 🙂1 point

Hi @Imanol so you have had success to follow this guide? (seen 🙂 ) yes you can activate in boot arg (I mean boot args VM.conf file many others cpu features you can check it with MacCPUid intel app 🙂 obviously also via terminal as you said above Now I am focusing my research in others part and if you have some good idea tested feel free to say here if you like 🙂1 point
